DOHA LEADING businessmen, experts and figures associated with environmental issues will take part in Qatar Sustainability Expo (QSE) which is to be held alongside the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2012 (COP18/CMP8) at the Doha Exhibition Centre from November 26 to December 7. The expo will be open between 11am and 9pm.

The QSE will showcase programmes, initiatives, plans and products related to sustainability of environment. The event is part of Qatar’s initiative to demonstrate its commitment to leading international discussion on one of the most critical issues of our time — the climate change.

This was announced by Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al Malki, director in the office of Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority and General Coordinator for COP18/CMP8 on Sunday.

“This exhibition will provide an excellent opportunity for Qatar’s many leading companies to showcase their progress in sustainability and environmental programmes. With Qatar’s prominent companies talking of past, present and future projects alongside exhibitors displaying their products and services, the Qatar Sustainability Expo will be the largest-ever showcasing of sustainability efforts in Qatar,” Malki said.

George Ayache, the general manager of IFP Qatar, the firm appointed by the COP18/ CMP8 Organising Committee to organise QSE, said: “The global platform for discussion of the environmental strategy coming to Qatar will provide a perfect opportunity to bring together government bodies, the industry and consumers, as well as global policy-makers and experts to do their bit for the climate.”

The QSE is a multi-sector sustainability exhibition highlighting Qatar’s progress in environmental initiatives and programmes.
