MES launches tree plantation campaign

DOHA MES INDIAN School of Doha launched a tree plantation campaign recently.

As part of the school’s curriculum SEWA (social empowerment through work and education), the campaign’s aim is to spread environmental awareness. It was also in support of the United Nations environment programme ‘Million Tree Plantation’.

Bank Sarasin-Alpen CEO Sulaiman Salghi was the chief guest at the programme. He stressed the importance of a corporate culture built in green environment.

“A green and clean environment should be the mission of every student,” said Principal A P Sasidharan while speaking at the programme. G Rajkumar, vice-principal, CBSE-I, emphasised the importance of instilling values of interdependence in people’s minds.

After the tree plantation ceremony, a formal function was held in the auditorium. There the student representatives from different classes spoke about the urgency of protecting the environment. The students also carried flags of different organisations to spread environmental awareness. A song about the environment was sung by the students of various classes.

Executive Manager Fadwa B Kawkab, Bank Sarasin-Alpen Managing Director Sanjay Bhatia, vice-principals and head of sections, head of academic inspection and teachers were present on the occasion.

Environment coordinator Shakil Ahmed Kakvi and SEWA coordinators of the section Shoaibuddin and Devi were also present.
