DOHA the corridors on the Academy of Qatar (QA) are abuzz with excited discussions between the students about the question where they go next year for QA-the annual "Week without walls ' travel, although the event is months away. It will not take place until may 2013.

The buzz started when brochures were delivered to classes this week and by the time scholarships journey began after school on Tuesday, students brought their parents and drawn up in booths where they had a chance to learn about each trip, including travel leaders and routes.

This year brings them to Thailand, Switzerland excursions, England, France, Italy, South Africa, Cambodia and Viet Nam.

There are also eight routes for the programs that will take place in Qatar. Each trip is aligned with a "field of interaction" from the school ' middle years programme ' (BEND) curriculum, students an opportunity to travel while learning more about the environment, health and social education, human ingenuity and Community & service.

Experiential learning coordinator Craig Paterson said: "for many of our students, the ' Week without muren'-program is a highlight of the year.

"Some of these kids have never traveled outside Qatar without their parents so they have a lot to learn about themselves in the course of a week – completely outside what they will learn as part of the curriculum."
