TOP-SEEDED Christopher Rungkat launched his campaign in the Qatar Futures Tennis Tournament with a comfortable straight-set victory against Delf Gohlke. At the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on Tuesday, the Indonesian 301st world-ranked player clinched a clinical 6-3 6-2 triumph against the German qualifier.

Rungkat, who has won seven Futures titles and two of them this year, will next take on Slovak Marko Danis, who advanced with a 6-4 7- 6(1) victory over Austrian qualifier Richard Ruckelshausen.

All the remaining seeded players in action barring No 8 Francois-Arthur Vibert moved into the second round.

The French player Vibert (631st ranked) was stunned in the opening set by Algerian qualifier Mehdi Bouras, ranked more than 650 places lower than his rival.
