BPS students go on eco-consciousness journey to Al Khor

DOHA members of the Eco-Club of Birla Public School (BPS) recently took a trip to Al Khor as part of ' A Flower Each Spring ' program. They were enlightened on the various aspects of ecology during the trip.

On the State of the birds, the Lady volunteer explained to them the features of the birds, the size of their beaks and eggs.

For learning about the flora and fauna of Qatar, birds and insects, students were introduced to the company of the year, Thilooth, a shrub in the salt marshes and along the shores of the Gulf, particularly in Southwest-Qatar grows.

The students also took lessons on the removal of various types of waste and the storage locations, such as red for aluminum, blue for paper, Brown for general waste and more.

They were also informed about the ongoing construction of Quranic Botanic Gardens, in informing about the flora mentioned in the Holy Quran and also for research.

They cleaned the banks and collected as much waste as possible. They were told that "with diligent effort, we not only save mangrove but also the different species of plants." The volunteers also showed the ways through which the early divers pearls of the ocean floor. In the end there was a quiz session to assess how much the students had learned.

' A flower Each Spring ' program is aimed at increasing awareness of the community on the flora of Qatar, their medicinal and other qualities and to point out the need for preservation of the flora to check by ecological degradation.

It also seeks individuals to contribute to sustainable development, strengthening efforts that are dedicated to the preservation and development of natural resources and promotion of the private sector to use flora as a source for the manufacture of materials.
