Qatar’s Islamic banking assets soar

QATAR Central Bank Governor HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud al Thani has said that the assets of Islamic banks in Qatar touched QR195 billion at the end of 2012.

Speaking at Oman’s second Islamic Banking Conference, he said that the asset surge was a result of the vertical as well as horizontal expansion, reaching 23.8 percent of the total assets of the banking system compared to 14 percent in 2002.
