League welcomes proposal on Syria

CAIRO The Arab League on Wednesday welcomed a joint communique by the US Secretary of State John Kerry and the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to reactivate the Geneva initiative for a political settlement of the Syrian conflict. The Arab League secretary- general’s spokesman Nassif Hitti said the pan-Arab organisation supports any proposal to reactivate the Geneva initiative. He stressed that a political solution based on it is the only way out of the crisis, ruling out any military options. (QNA)
