DOHA PAKISTAN’S Ambassador to Qatar HE Syed Hassan Raza said that Pakistani entrepreneurs should explore business opportunities in a rapidly growing Qatari market.

Speaking to members of Pakistani delegation, who took part in Project Qatar 2013 exhibition, the envoy said that Qatar has plans for a massive infrastructure development with projects costing $125 billion.

“Fifa World Cup 2022 is just one aspect of the development plan because it is time-bound.

There are other infrastructure projects too,” said the envoy.

Lauding the country’s business rules and regulations, the envoy said: “I disagree with the general perception that there are hurdles like visa issues, in doing business in the country. I assure you that there are no visa restrictions for Pakistanis,” stressed the envoy, while adding that like any other country there are certain business rules in Qatar which needed to be followed.

The envoy further said that Qatar has sophisticated regulations.

“Take the example of the Qatar Financial Centre Authority. It is a replica of the UK regulatory authority,” he said.

The envoy added that Qatar and Pakistan enjoyed “excellent bilateral relations and Qatari leadership wants Pakistanis to play a part in the development of the country”.

“Qatar is a promising country as far as business opportunities are concerned. We enjoy goodwill in Qatar and there is no difficulty for us,” stressed the ambassador while referring to his recent meetings with the Qatari leadership.

Several Qatar-based Pakistani businessmen also spoke about business opportunities in the country. They were CEO Ammico Jamal Nasir, Managing Director Unicon Mohammad Khan, Country Manager of Nespak Afaq Haleem, Managing Director Zaoq Restaurant Ahmad Hussain and General Manager Descon Ahmed Din.

Pakistan Embassy’s Head of Chancery Malik M Farooq, Counsellor Gauhar Riaz, Community Welfare Attaché Rashid Nizam and Defence Attaché Commodore Zafar Mansoor Tipu were also present on the occasion.
