QA orders nine more Boeing 777 aircraft

An order for nine Boeing 777 passenger aircraft Paris QATAR AIRWAYS on Monday announced on the opening day of the Paris Air Show.

With the new order for Boeing 777s the airline outstanding order rise by seven to sixteen, boosting its current fleet of 35 triple Sevens 51 aircraft.

The additional aircraft will help the airline open new routes and add capability to existing markets in its rapidly growing network.

Monday's announcement is for the 777-300 ER (Extended Range) version of the aircraft.

Addressing a press conference at the Le Bourget, venue of the Paris Air Show, Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar al Baker said, "with its reliability, economy and range capability, the 777 will continue to play an important role in State of Qatar Airways to operate more direct non-stop flights from our hub in Doha to destinations in many markets, including Australia and the United States.

"We have already shown a desire to open up new destinations in the US and the Boeing 777 will continue to have in our plans for expansion in this part of the world, in addition to the ever more frequently to other destinations.

"As Qatar Airways with taking deliveries of Boeing 777s in November 2007, we quickly started this fleet, which to important destinations to all parts of the World-Europe, South Africa, Asia, North America and South America and selected cities in the Middle East flying extended. That a plane of choice, the 777 has proved popular with our passengers and has a positive effect on our activities, now established as the flagship aircraft of our long flying program. " Of the current Qatar Airways 777 fleet works a mix of passenger and cargo aircraft, Boeing 777-300ERs, 22 nine 777-200LRs (Long Range) and four Boeing 777 Freighters, with a fifth cargo plane set to be delivered to the airline this month. " The Paris Air Show, held every two years is one of the world's biggest aerospace events and takes place at Le Bourget, a private jet business aviation airport on the outskirts of Paris, France.

Qatar Airways has its latest aircraft, a 787 Dreamliner, static display at Le Bourget have flown directly from Boeing plant in Seattle yesterday to the French debut at the Paris Air Show.

The new addition takes the number of Dreamliners the carrier to six aircraft.
